The play that I saw is a story of a lazy cool kid named Juan Tamad. This kid is brought up by his Lola while his parents left him to work abroad. Juan tamad (JT) is a spoiled kid, he wants to have things without exerting much effort on it, he is indeed very lazy, and he wants everything to be fed to him. At 21, he finally decides to vote, but after voting, he returns to his lazy ways until he met a girl who persuades him to be a participative and be active citizen in their place. In the end, bridge breaks and JT initiates and led the people in rebuilding the brigde.

The story’s focus is not on JT and the girl but JT being a youth and a virgin voter. The play shows the reality during elections, each cast represents someone in a “Filipino society”. It is evident in the society the “trapos”(traditional politicians) that we are so familiar with, they come in many shape and kind as what is portrayed in the play. So sad Philippine politics, as many would say, is going around in circle arriving nowhere. I am proud to be a Filipino but very sad to say that Philippine politics are branded as the most ugliest/dirtiest in the whole world because candidates are fun of tricks/black propaganda/mudslinging in order to win the election.

While watching the play, I’ve come to realize the importance of every young people in the society. As stakeholders of the future, the youth have to make their stand in the elections. This is what the play wants us to see… This play is part of their “The Virgin Voter’s Campaign” aimed at the 5 million first-time youth voters to register and vote wisely, which is for me very effective. The vital role of youth in the society is given emphasis by the writer. Many youth nowadays have been discouraged the way election is held in the country, many were complaining, many were going to the streets and shout for what they think is right. The youth should make a stand , the youth should make a move , they should speak out their minds and be a responsible voice of the society.-- empower the Pinoy youth to fight for clean elections and make their votes count, that is what the play all about.

The acting in the play is superb; the actors did make me burst out loud when funny lines were uttered. What is exciting about this play also is the style used by the director. The songs were so now, the costumes were cool, they used symbolisms, they did dances and sing amazingly, the lighting also adds us to the intensity of the play, everything, was for me, perfect!

For Juan Tamad, I promise to vote wisely! Mabuhuay ang kabataan!
